We offer a wide range of services and resources to foster both student engagement and career development. We invite you to partner with us to help Huskies find career success.

Getting Started

Sometimes students don't know how to begin working with us. You can help by telling them about our resources and services. Start by informing them about:

• Career counseling appointments.
• Online resources.
• Huskies Get Hired job/internship search platform.
• Career fairs and events.

Workshops and Collaborations

We present a variety of career-related workshops to classes, student organizations and departments. We can tailor a workshop/presentation to the needs of your students or create a different collaboration that works for you. Previous partnerships with faculty have resulted in:

• Development of classroom assignments, resources or activities on career topics.
• On-site resume review clinics.
• Group career inventory assessments.
• Hands-on LinkedIn workshops.
• Industry-specific recruitment events.
• Verification of student attendance at career fairs/events.
• Presentations at department meetings to share information about our services.

Connecting with Employers

We invite you to meet employers at our career events. We can also coordinate a visit from an employer to a class or campus organization.

To showcase internship and job listings targeted to your students, we can create a custom job feed for your department website. The feed will display selected career opportunities from the Huskies Get Hired system. Please contact us for more information.

You can also view internship and job opportunities in Huskies Get Hired in order to inform students about them. You'll log in to the system as a faculty/staff member.

Hiring Student Interns/Workers

Looking to hire student interns or workers? Post open positions on our online platform, Huskies Get Hired. You'll log in as an on-campus employer. Having a centralized system for postings helps ensure equitable access for all students.

Unpaid internships have received increasing attention in recent years. We define an internship as a career-related work experience that benefits the student and facilitates their learning.

Writing Reference Letters

If you've been asked to write a reference letter, refer to NACE: How to Write a Reference Letter for information on your responsibilities regarding FERPA and discrimination laws.

The following outlines provide language you can use in your reference letters to better protect students’ confidentiality:

Reporting Career Outcomes

We collect information about student outcomes (internship/job acquisition and graduate school admission). Please tell your students to register their new job/internship to help us better track the career success of NIU students.
