Career Counseling and Workshops
Making decisions about your academic and professional paths can be overwhelming. By using our services to explore majors and careers, your future will come into focus. Make an appointment to get personalized career counseling, practice your interview skills and much more. We also provide free access to online career testing.
In addition, we provide career counseling to alumni and partner with faculty/staff to deliver career-related workshops to classes, student organizations and departments.

We offer several kinds of appointments to meet your needs:
- Career connections (a quick session for UNIV 101/102 students and those new to NIU)
- Career counseling (a longer, personalized session)

Graduate students are encouraged to schedule appointments with our career counseling staff.
A useful career resource for graduate students is Beyond Graduate School, a platform that provides access to videos, assessments and other resources that will support your job search.
Graduate students can learn more about professional development while attending NIU.
Services for Alumni
Online career counseling services (through Microsoft Teams) are available for three years after your graduation from NIU. Email careerservices@niu.edu for career assistance. Include your name, year of graduation and a brief summary of the kind of career assistance you need. All alumni have lifetime access to Huskies Get Hired and career fairs.
Services for Faculty and Staff
Career Services welcomes the opportunity to partner with you for career-related course assignments and presentations to your class or student organization. Send your inquiry to careerservices@niu.edu so that we may refer your request to the appropriate staff member.
